Did Ripley's daughter really die of natural causes? or was she killed by Weyland?... or was it fabricated?

The Company had no reason to manipulate Ripley at the point where Burke shows her the photo.

The USM (not the Company) needed Ripley's DNA because she was carrying an Alien.  Amanda wasn't.

Still, given how the events of Alien: Isolation played out, I wouldn't be surprised if Amanda had a few more close encounters with Weyland-Yutani operations.

In the early drafts, Burke tells Ripley she died of cancer.  

I personally don't think Burke was lying to Ripley.  However, this is something I had wondered myself years ago about Burke.

Indeed at the time of Aliens yes seemed it was just a case of death from Cancer, nothing Malicious at all.....

But with Alien Isolation Game and depends if they are going to use this as Canon or not... there is a potential they could have some more sinister motive and reasons and a cover up..

But i guess for the time being we maybe have to accept that she died at 66 of a chronic illness and Ripley would have had no knowledge of anything she may have done in her daughters past... be it Alien Isolation is a real canon event or not.

You know this is an interesting question, how much can you trust "the company" and if in the future things are different/better than they are now. 

From the added material, be it books or comics, etc., it seems the company has very shadowy motives, even dept's within the company seem to be plotting and scheming against each other for "shares".

So from this perspective it would appear that the mega-corporations have gotten even worse, to the point where they may threaten our existence by meddling in the alien matters. 

So would they lie, cheat, manipulate the facts to effect someone's decision to help them?  Absolutely.  Did it happen in this case?  Unknown at this time. 

Indeed and for all we know, Amanda could be alive in 2179 and in some kind of Mental Ward where they can prevent her from speaking out..

They inform Ripley she is dead... so Ripley has nothing to go back too, and no purpose as much and so the company can then get her to join the mission.

When they told her about Amanda - there was no mission.

Why did they need Ripley to go on the mission?(i'll have to watch it again...)

Seems like they should of had Amanda working as a scientist on LV426...Then tell Ripley the news....That would have been a good incentive to go!(instead of the 'nightmares' excuse)

Contact was lost with the colony on LV426.  After throwing her under the bus for her story about her encounter there, they offer her a position as a "consultant", to offer advice on the creature, if it turns out her story is actually true.

Yeah putting her daughter on LV426 would have probably done the trick.  So maybe it was the truth.

Ripley's daughter might have wanted to find out more about her mothers death...maybe travel to LV426 to search for clues?

When W Y started to terra-form the planet she saw her chance to investigate.

Yeah what i meant was speculating if they are going to explore any story as canon regarding what the company knew about or if they had been back to LV-223/LV-426 post 2122 and prior to 2179

As far as Canon yes, it seemed the company had no mission and it was a case of when Ripley informed them about LV-426 and they thought she was a bit crazy.... but then they lost contact with Hadleys hope and so they maybe had to take what she said seriously.. and ask her to join them....

But my comment was ASSUMPTION and not Fact, that what if they explore as far as future movies or back ground... Amanda Ripley and what she actually did for a living... was she a normal Person working a 9-5 Job?

Or do they try and add in the Plot or similar to the Isolation Game...

So my comment was if Alien Isolation is Canon... this could mean someone at the Company behind the scenes knows more than what most at the board meeting in Aliens did..

And then potentially they could cover up, Amanda's whole History.... or even lie about her death.... if they needed Ripley on board.

But then yes the big question in Aliens was why did they need Ripley?  She had little knowledge or contact with the Xenomorph and giving a interview and information surely would have been enough..

But alas its a Plot for the movie, as otherwise we would not have had Ripley go along..

They needed Ripley because she was the only living person who'd ever encountered what the colonists might have encountered.
