Alien: Covenant Set Photos (Potential Spoilers)
Chris
AdminEngineerJun-03-2016 8:49 AMFor those of you who don't mind potential spoilers, this topic will help to chronicle Alien: Covenant set photos as they're release and/or leaked. A full collection of set photos as well as movie stills can be found in our Alien: Covenant Movie Image Gallery, here.
First Batch of set photos: The Ship
The first batch of Alien: Covenant set photos were of a ship (we assume part of the Covenant vessel or shuttle), which was blown up shortly after being built. What this tells us about the Alien: Covenant plot is that at some point - the ship (or part of it) blows up. If it's a shuttle, perhaps something or someone sabotages the ship and explodes it, stranding its crew on Paradise or wherever it landed?
Second batch of set photos: The Statue
The second set photo to surface was the construction of the iconic head statue, originally seen in Prometheus. At this point we learned that Engineer structures would be present and once again explored in Alien: Covenant.
Third batch of set photos: Alien Turmoil.
The third batch of set photos revealed a LOT about Alien: Covenant, but still managed to raise more questions than answers. The photos exposed familiar humanoid head statues, which seemed damaged:
We also got our first look at some Extra Terrestrials (could be Engineers, Humans, or something else) struggling to survive, seemingly burned to a crisp at the steps of a temple:
This batch of photos also depicted massive trees, insinuating that the planet we visit in Alien: Covenant isn't as desolate as LV-426 or as barren as LV-223, but may contain a lush, forest type environment. With a name like Paradise, you would expect the environment would support some kind of life.
The questions raised here are - if David is the only inhabitant of the planet the Covenant arrives at, do the set photos above depict a flashback scene? Or, does it depict a parallel story line which focuses on a different group? Will we get a glimpse into the Engineer culture? Or is this a scene depicting chaos following David's initial arrival to the planet, to which he unleashes the payload housed in the stolen Juggernaut ship he and (the missing) Dr. Elizabeth Shaw used to escape LV-223 at the end of Prometheus?
Explosion - Isolation
This Alien: Covenant set pic showcased our first look at Katherine Waterston's character, Daniels, looking very "Ripley-esque" sitting along the walls of a corridor on board the Covenant. The background looks as if something has exploded and/or the ship has taken significant damage...
New David, Old Tech
This next set pic debuted David 8.2, the second Android unit in the film, accompanying the Covenant crew. We also got our first look at one of the space suit helmets from the Covenant and it looked very reminiscent of those worn on the Nostromo in Alien.
The cockpit - Mission Briefing
This next photo showcased Danny McBride's character being instructed by Ridley Scott on the set of Alien: Covenant. The location seems to be that of a cockpit, again very reminiscent in design to that of the Nostromo. However some fans speculate this could be on board a detachable shuttle or Dropship? Minor details can be spotted in this photo, offering slight details within the practical set pieces. One being he intricate control panels, hydraulic cylinders in the background and some monitoring feeds.
As more Alien: Covenant set photos make their way online, we'll be updating this topic, as well as uploading them to our image gallery. This topic does not contain ALL set photos currently released, but only a few for reference. A full collection can be found in our Alien: Covenant Movie Image Gallery! If you discover any new set photos, you can upload them yourself by clicking the blue icon at the top left of this page, and selecting UPLOAD AN IMAGE!

MemberDeaconJun-03-2016 9:39 AMYes interesting set photos that allow us to discus what could be happening...
The Ship, well it seems part of a ship but a ship thats landed for sure and we have to ask why has it blown up... we cant be sure.. but to me the best two most logical explanations are.
*The ship is sabotaged by David, or someone else as a Malevolent Act to prevent the crew from leaving and thus TRAP them on that World with No Escape... and so this could be a earlier scene where the crew are stranded and then have to face horrors..
*It is aftermath scene where Horrors are unleashed or about to and the ship is sabotage for a Benevolent reason, this is to prevent such Horrors leaving this place.
The scene of Disaster, well this a interesting Scene, Ridley said the place was a scene of disaster, and i think this implies prior to the Covenant arriving... The movie is set to follow loosely Paradise Lost and Fall of Man and Angels.... and as Ridley hinted as such and the source mentioned about rebellion and punishment.
Ridley did say a long time ago though that David was carrying Hell with him.
So again this scene has to logically be one of these two scenarios.
*The Scene is a Flash Back scene showing God or some being/power/race who are the representation of God or Gods in this movie... Punishing either Engineers (Angels) or some other creation or relation to Mankind for a rebellion or fall from grace in the eyes of the Hierarchy.
*David unleashing Hell on whom ever is on Paradise.
But again we could be seeing a War of Races, War of Factions and this Scene is part of that War.
I could be wrong with those, but its what i am drawn to from the Scenes.....
But i was drawn from Prometheus Trailers and Shots that David would upgrade himself to be Bio-Mechanical and the Being above Shaw (who was just the Engineer) and that Shaws Offspring that was caused by David, ends up then infecting David to give us the Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph.
But alas i was wrong lol (found out by some stills from a latter Trailer with a headless David).

MemberDeaconJun-03-2016 9:46 AMI guess we could also add the Twitter Feed too.
Which could connect to the above Daniels Scene...
If so something has gone down, and maybe Daniels has played some kind of Sabotage but for what purpose?

MemberDeaconJun-03-2016 9:59 AMIf i am to expand on the disaster scene, then its interesting also because those beings all have no hair, there seems to be Females too and yet while they look blackened with soot they dont seem to bare serve burn marks that would go hand in hand to burn the hair off all of them but yet leave the loincloth intact.
Also if this is Mankind, why do we have the Slabs of Wall with Engineer Cuneiform writing on?
So maybe these beings are related to the Engineers or Engineers.... the source did say in Early March something about how Mankind is 4th or 5th Generation of Mankind and about how the Gods have punished and destroyed life over and over before.
So could earlier Mankinds Origins bare more resemblance to Engineers? This goes in hand with what they said March 2015 about Mankind had been to that system (Zeta 2) before Prometheus... this could mean as far as Ancient Mankind or our Ancestors.
They also said in March 2016 about things from the Bible and Paradise Lost to not be taken as literal in relation to our history/Humans but it is something that the Gods have done before... Maybe this means those things from the Bible/Paradise Lost applied to a earlier version of Mankind...
Is this what we are seeing in the scene of disaster?

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2016 11:50 PMInteresting photos. If the figures in the fourth photo are engineers, I'm wondering if the entire race on Paradise were killed. It does say in the synopsis for the movie that the planet's sole inhabitant is David, so that seems to suggest the engineers who once inhabited the planet either died or left. If the photo we see is on Paradise, it looks like something caused the engineers to instantly die and become frozen in place. Some fans have speculated that the ultramorph will be in this movie. The only way to create a ultramorph is for an engineer to get facehugged, so the only options I can think of is, there's already an ultramorph colony on the planet when they get there (which means "sole inhabitant" doesn't include morbs), engineers arrive after they get there, or they go back to LV 223 where the ultramorph (grown up deacon) is still around. It's possible that the ultramorph has survived 10 years since he has engineer DNA, which might give him a longer lifespan. If he doesn't survive he could have found a way to reproduce. However they do it, I'm excited to see Ridley's new morbs on the big screen!

MemberOvomorphJun-16-2016 7:24 PMTHERE IS ONE PROMINENT ADVANTAGE TO READING ALL THE IDEAS AND GUESSES BEGUN OVER A "SECRET MOVIE" ONE IN WHICH I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO BE A PARTICIPANT…….OF ALL THE SITES I HAVE SEEN CONCERNING 'FORCE AWAKENS' 'BATMAN VS SUPERMAN' 'GODZILLA' ET AL….NOT ONCE HAS ANYBODY GOTTEN IT RIGHT AS TO WHAT WOULD BE HAPPENING IN THE MOVIE………….THAT SAID………I AM VERY UPSET THAT THE MOVIE WILL NOT BE HAVING NOOMI REPACE AND FASSBENDER ON THE STOLEN ALIEN SHIP FLYING THROUGH SPACE TOWARDS THE ORIGIN PLANET OF THE "WHITE" ALIEN SUPER RACE. SO I AM GOING TO SUGGEST THAT ……"THAT!" IS WHAT THE MOVIE IS REALLY ABOUT…………….IN THE OPENING SCENE NOOMI AND FASSBENDER ARE ADJUSTING TO LIFE ON BOARD THE ALIEN CRAFT AND DISCOVERING A FEW OF ITS SECRETS AS IT HEADS FOR THE PLANET OF SUPER WHITE WAX ANGELS.

MemberXenomorphJun-22-2016 10:54 PMWhat makes the picture of Daniels, 'Ripley-esque'? Ripley didn't wear her hair like that, nor did she wear a single top like that, or lounge around casually with a gun.
Chris
AdminEngineerJun-23-2016 6:38 AMMore so Aliens Ripley, the similarities are definitely there. First time I saw that photo, Ripley is who I thought of and she doesn't look like she's "lounging" but more so hiding after some traumatic event.
BigDave
MemberDeaconJun-23-2016 8:20 AMI think Ridley and Fox are loosely trying to tease and emulate that Ripley Look with Daniels, we dont know what kind of Character she would play but its a safe guess she would play a more closer Character to Ripley than that of Shaws

MemberXenomorphJun-23-2016 2:45 PM@Chris Picard - What similarities? The picture gives me an impression of someone military - which is another point of difference with Ripley. I'm really not seeing any 'emulating' beyond the fact they're both white women.

MemberFacehuggerJun-23-2016 5:54 PMDoes anyone think we'll ever see a male lead character in one of Ridley's Alien films? He seems to have a penchant for female leads..
S.M
MemberXenomorphJun-23-2016 6:05 PMProbably not. Although Fassbender was arguably the co-lead in Prometheus.
As long as the women are sufficiently different and/ or interesting I'm quite happy to see them continue with female leads. Shaw was different and interesting. Lex in AvP wasn't interesting and Kelly in AvP:R was neither different nor interesting.

MemberOvomorphAug-10-2016 5:46 PMI'm liking these photos so far. I need to take to time to go through them properly.
I found Lex interesting in AVP, but that series was doomed from the start.
