Originally his idea was a sequel to Aliens that basically eliminated Alien 3 from the Canon...

Why cant he just do a Comic Book or Cartoon based off his idea, a movie well how they going to do that?

Sigourney is getting on now, how are they going to explain the Age difference?

Doing this idea will just basically bastardise the whole franchise...  as what we get then is basically a free for all for people to make unlimited sequels and prequels pretty much like the Star Wars Novels, and Alien related Comics... i think thats fine as Books and Comics but to do so in a Movie, then we basically are left with whats Canon and whats not and after Prometheus confused things, and a sequel may avoid explanations of the Xeno and LV 223!, what we would be left with is a even bigger puzzle.

NOW....

If Fox loved his ideas and concept work, and chose to make a sequel to after Alien Resurrection or a event that runs parallel or prior but after Alien 3, that will not have Ripley in it then i think that would be a good idea.

BUT....

This News seems to indicate they are doing a Alien 2, so its maybe a follow up to Alien well a Reboot of Aliens.... if so well i worried such a thing would happen after Prometheus.

Neill Blomkamp officially announces he will be directing Alien 5!

Yes it's real and yes it's awesome. I understand it's Hicks and Ripley after the events of Aliens, dunno if Bishop and Newt will be in it.

The alien franchise seems to be in some type of chaos if this is a direct follow up to Aliens, and brings Hicks back into the picture. Hopefully the Hicks alive explanation isn't as hamstrung as the one in Aliens: Colonial Marines.

@Durp; I'm pretty sure Fox is simply rebooting the series. It will be like what the X-Men series has become, removing some of the movies from canon. 

Seems moreso than a reboot it's more of a continuation after Aliens, not necessarily a problem in and of itself, but the question is if connects to Alien 3 or will go in a different directing basically making a fork in the timeline.
