Apone's Moustache
MemberOvomorphSep-04-2014 6:49 AMI loved the addition of the sentry guns in the Director's Cut of Aliens, but after watching the film yesterday something made me wonder. Why did they put two sentry guns in the service tunnel when the xenos had no way of getting past the pressure door? If somebody could explain this to me I would be very grateful.

MemberTrilobiteSep-04-2014 10:02 AMTo create a chokepoint - one narrow means of access that if breached would require them to escape as is what eventually happens.
Think 4 player command and conquer, rather than deal with your enemies coming from one of three directions you heavily defend and block two of the three accessways to your base, thus leaving one path into your base, which if narrow enough can be easily defended with little effort!

MemberOvomorphSep-05-2014 3:10 PMThats exactly correct a chokepoint in any escape gives you more time to lay waste to anything that has to try and clammer and hide but no-where to run.
The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

I think if they ever came to the only escape being that door they would want those guns to kill off what ever may be waiting behind it for when ever it gets opened.
