MemberOvomorphDec-10-2013 1:16 PMI'm (personally i.e. this is my own critical quest) wondering if P2 will 'man up' and reveal that the Engineers DID IN FACT back-engineer their Juggernaut from the really ancient Derelict Technology flown by the GIANT Ganesha Space Truckers.
Not sure when Scott'll do what he said he was going to do i.e. explain the facehugger Egg-cargo.
As for xenomorphs, doubt it - if it's a reboot - there'll be NO UGM or Giger-inspired material AT ALL.
Everything has gone glossy and corporate, no ass-lusting bio-mechanoid Giger-fun allowed in the bland for-profit gene-mix future.

MemberOvomorphDec-20-2013 2:50 AMWell, the way I see it the universe is about to get a hell of a lot bigger, and i believe the line "big things have small beginnings" is foreshadowing the entire series. Prometheus was necessary as a "small beginning" for somethnig that will grow much larger, and teasily top itself in the sequel, exceeding many expectations, and building on many things secretly set up in the first to misdirect us (misdirection becomes a theme of the series on Weyland corp/David's end). In one of the early scripts there were multiple strains. 8 different strains of xeno that the Engineers were almost farming...Maybe each temple had slightly different genetics.
Many movies foreshadow what will happen next, or in later installments. people who study film can get good at looking at things planted for later sequels. This is almost an example of David knowing how the science and story will play out ahead of time, hence why he brought the ladder, he symbolizes some aspects of Prometheus as the only one with foresight. For example, I'm totally convinced that the size of the doorways were much too tall for these Engineers or a purpose, and David had much more detailed knowledge about multiple engineer factions. This is because the Lawrence of Arabia stuff is linked to the multiple faction possibilities, and David, would have learned each of the cultures' languages beforehand instead of only one culture/faction at play, like in LoA...
Lawrence of Arabia contains a lot of possible clues to what David already knows about the multiple Engineer factions at play, so he is forced to reveal his knowledge/review the film. And quotes from the movie multiple times to draw comparisons. David feels like he's on an adventure...
There could be a bigger species out there that originally built the temple...Shaw could have been right and the message could have originally been an invitation by the much taller faction who built the temple, but are still humanoid in suits....
Also, the answer to the OP might depend on what exactly a true alien is by the end. In Prometheus we almost see the re-birth of this species. We see an almost new form of it, that had been stored in the goo, and has now quickly moved through its evolution to get back to a point where the species is acquiring the traits that were in the ancestral form.We did not see this small beginning play out completely yet. We didn't get to see the Alien become big, so in that way we never saw David fulfill his promise yet. Yeah the Deacon is big, but it's not the final stage in the evolution... We still have to see something bigger. This thing was an infant, and born with a lot of instinct/genetic memory (born with legs). It was able to get up and start walking in the wild like a baby gazelle is born to do, and is driven by instinct at this stage... We need to see this thing become fully grow. It's already pretty big, but this is its infant stage, it hasn't even reached its full chestburster size yet...
The alien genetics are known to change and alter depending on the genetic material they use as a host, possibly even the environment. Different types of aliens will emerge, so there technically might not be only one true Xenomorph, but instead a blueprint for their genetics that is more ancient than the rest (the classic xeno). Different types of hives could form under diff conditions, and the environment affects the species as it does humans.. The aliens also alter their environments in their own ways, as do humans, but the aliens make the walls look a lot less shiny, and spread their genetic influence over the environment.
We could end up seeing multiple types of aliens, multiple factions, and differing sizes and classes for each...Different combinations of genetics, deviations and mutations, hyrbridizations that can form subtle variations of the Aliens from the original stored/re-born genetics. We need to see the bigger Queen type aliens, and we also need to meet the King alien, which can arise under certain situations, like when the infertility trait is passed from Shaw to the Deacon through Trilobyte. Shaw was producing ovum, they were just infertile. And our Deacon can't become a Queen...It was born to be male, with male only genetic programming, and re-weaponized in such a way as to make this alien more male than female (as they are hermaphroditic, and a Queen or King could always secretly arise, we just haven't met a King yet ;)) Kings usually have their reign and die off before we see them, Vickers was foreshadowing a lot of things too...
If there was a plan in the beginning before any scripts were written, it might be summed up in "big things have small beginnings", which is taken from Lawrence of Arabia. David llikes films, which I feel is very important. As noted, the answer to the question may depend on what exactly a true Xenomorph is by the end. In one of the earlier drafts there were different strains of the xeno, we may see a wide variety of life in the Xeno's adaptations and changes, whereas the Engineer factions and us mainly vary in size, and sex, and are not completely hermaphroditic....Fifield calls the Hammerpede a he, Millburn called it a she. Worms are hermaphroditic and the alien organism is too, according to its blueprints. So, it gained a trait it could use and was seeking, because the alien is programmed to follow more or less the same plans, and changes only in slight ways depending on what genetics it picks up...Like branches of the evolutionary tree there are secretly different lineages that can form. The family tree thing/lineage/bloodline is important, and because the aliens contain both sexes, there can be Kings as well as Queens.
Vickers wanted the King to die and wanted to reign as Queen supreme of Weyland corp and all her colonies (hives), but the King had a son. He wanted a son, not a daughter. The Deacon, like David, was born to be male. The Engineers are born super male, enhanced testostorne etc, their genetics codes for this, codes for them to have altered hormones and sex chromosomes, but the same genetic blueprints as us...

MemberDeaconDec-20-2013 7:44 AM"And our Deacon can't become a Queen...It was born to be male"
Granted it may not be a Queen but the Production team did hint it was female.
"Designer Scanlan needed the creature to embody a byzantine genetic makeup. “It came from Shaw and Holloway, which then produced the Trilobite, which impregnated the Engineer, which then mixed its DNA with the Trilobite. We tried to hold on to some of Shaw, some femininity since it was born of a female before being born of a male.”
This does not mean its Female however could just mean it carries some traits from Shaw and also some Male ones from the Engineer..
To be honest the Deacon at the end of the movie could be Asexual.
As far as seeing Xenos, i am not sure we would see them in flesh but maybe see hints and Murals or even acounts given to David or Translated by David even if via Writtings, or Engineers or even Holograms.
But i do think we would see something related unleashed on Paradise at the hands of David, and what kind of creation would become of the events that David would unleash when he serves up a serving of Goo onto these Godlike beings they may find?

MemberDeaconDec-20-2013 7:48 AMAs far as the Xeno and Tech, well the Engineers at the start of the movie seemed to lack any Bio Tech and there Ship did not look Gigerish/Derelict in design but they did have the Goo well the Sacreficial Stuff.
Maybe at some point they came across a Organism and from this they produced not only the Xeno and various other types of related Organism but they also re-engineered and borrowed from them to produce their Bio Tech.
Pretty much like Scientists on Earth are now actually manipulating Spider Genes with a Cow Embryo so that we have Cows that Produce Silk in their Milk and this Silk can then be used as a Bio Fibre to be used in construction as its strong and yet flexible.
Could the Engineers had re-engineered parts of the Xenos Ancestor to their own ends, to not only re-weaponize and produce hybrids and organisms but also to make their Bio Tech?
