MemberOvomorphNov-07-2013 10:53 PMNot at all, my friend. The Xeno didn't exactly scare me either, it was simply the most badass organism ver conceived of.
The Deacon is amazing. It is less 'biomech-y' but absolutely fierce and awesome looking. Just wait til if/when we finally see the mature version- i bet we will both pee our pants!
So no, the Deacon to me, is a fresh take, and a much needed reboot of the somewhat played out Xeno. Whether we will ever see it again- I'm not so sure :(
I have the most confusing boner...

The Anunnaki were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, mighty men of high reno

This thing is aimed straight at Michael Fassbender.

MemberFacehuggerNov-08-2013 8:12 PMIs the Deacon scary? Well that’s a bit like asking if a lion is scary. It depends on which side of the enclosure you are stood. Maybe the question should be, does the Deacon look formidable? My first impression was that it looked a bit like a rapter, so I guess I would not be too keen on meeting this down a dark alley on my own without something to defend myself.
Scary is just a matter of context. Ridley played on the context of being trapped defenceless against a Xeno. I’m pretty sue he could capture that same atmosphere with the Deacon. So in that respect I don’t think the Deacon is old fashioned.

MemberDeaconNov-09-2013 9:16 AMWell this Deacon is based on Human DNA, so it will most likely not grow like the Xeno, i.e from Chest Buster to Adult.
But saying that the Deacon is 6ft ish all ready and you would have to imagine its bound to at least double in height, as its part mammal.
But then it could grow up to 4X so we could assume a adult Deacon could stand 15 to 25ft tall and if that means a average of 20ft or size of Xeno Queen then thats going to be pretty scary..

MemberOvomorphNov-09-2013 8:57 PM@Batchpool: Really well said. Thank you.
@Big Dave: I calculate the adult deacon will be much bigger. I think it will grow in size, not just 4x, but as many times as the xeno-from-humans grow, only multiplying the 6ft-ish instead of 6inch-ish. In addition, and get ready for this: it will grow even larger on contact with the black goo, which it will undoubtedly find sooner or later as it explores. What happens to it is one of the most interesting things I'd like to see in the sequel.

MemberOvomorphNov-10-2013 12:30 PMYou want scary? Look at Carlos Huante's concept art for the white 'Ultramorph' - that is nightmarish - and it was left out of the film.
The mind boggles. I hope they get this screaming phantasm in the next film. It has a truly elemental look to it along the lines of extra-dimensional spirits and the like.

MemberOvomorphNov-10-2013 6:19 PMif we count the years, the original concept tends over 34 years old, Alien movie (1979) and if we taking from the Gigers Necronomicon pre-concept we re talking about over 38 years old, that's the only reason that I have asked.
ZetaReticuli:
Carles Huante? yes, amazing, but I prefer Gigers one. Sorry man.

Maybe we would never know, we dont known yet and we can only assume by using how the Xeno grows from the small Chest Buster thats the size of a family cat, or a Iguana in size to a 8ft tall and 11ft long Alien.
But the Deacon came from a Hybrid Face Huger and so was part Human at Face Huger stage, the Deacon had a lot of Human Traits, its Teeth, Hands and even its Placenta.
So thats why i assume it would take on a Growth more like a Mamal would which could be like Humans or maybe less of a increase like a Horse or Cows off spring.
The result would be a growth of 2.5X to 4X but then it could be like the Xeno in Alien and thus a 6X Growth which would make for a 35-40ft Tall Giant....
And if you known scale that is massive... i mean look how big Bob looked to Shaw yet he was only 7.5ft Tall..
If we ever get to see the Deacon as a Adult on Film, then i think for aesthetics of the movie it should grow to no more than 20ft tall, i think even at 15 foot we would be faced with a terrifying Organism. So basically the size of a Xeno Queen would do the job.

The1PerfectOrganism
MemberOvomorphNov-11-2013 1:06 PMI'd say it's completely unique and individual of any other Xenomorph, and I find the idea that it could further mutate by coming into contact with more DNA manipulation liquid to be ridiculous and far too cartoon-ney for the Alien-Verse.
It might grow but I seriously hope it isn't into a Queen or anything Queen-size, I think Ridley's intention is to steer the franchise as far away from bugs as possible thankfully.
I have a feeling it was born in it's entirety and is completely individual from the other Aliens, and doesn't even necessarily need to be seen again.
Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. I admire its purity. A survivor... unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.

MemberDeaconNov-11-2013 5:43 PMAgreed and i felt it was also just shown as a plot device, to show the connection of the Goo to the Xenomorph.
But we have to remember David and Shaw have left LV 223, and from that moment untill the moment Nostramo enters the system where LV 426 is never mind Aliens Timeline of events.
What of LV 223? As if someone does not destroy it by the Aliens Timeline then why go to LV 426 when LV 223 has more rewards.
So yes there is a potential we could go back to LV 223 as at present this is a in continuity error in the Aliens franchise.
