Simply put; David. Fassbender gives an amazing and eerily believable performance as David the robot. Seriously, every time he comes on screen, it is like my heart is getting an erection. I also love some of the shots of the Prometheus ship. For instance, when they first descend through the atmosphere of LV223, and we briefly see a zoomed out, bird's-eye view of the ship flying over the surface- its just too cool. I rarely see shots like this, and i now make sure to watch for it every time i see Prometheus. I could go on all day about this movie.

Good things about Prometheus: - Brings back the good ol' Alien thingy, ya know what I'm sayin' :D - The actors are really good, especially Noomi and Fassbender have done great job on the acting. - Ridley Scott.

@Fleshvessel, Yes i agree,Fassbender killed it as David, amazing performance! Some things i loved about Prometheus are these things, The exploration. A good Sci-Fi should have exploration. It takes us on a journey into the unknown. The Engineers "computers" looked really cool, how it was operating based of green energy. The hologram playing back what happened was also an amazing sequence. I just love those details. Ofcourse for me personally the biggest moment was to see the Spacejockey step into his chair. WOW! I swear that scene brought tears to my eyes. Finally there was a real Science Fiction film in theaters!! I saw it 3 times in theaters. I wish i would have gone a fourth. Other things,as you said, are the sequences of the Prometheus flying in Space. So beautiful. I love those sequences and wish for more. They remind us of where we are.

Right here we go: Prometheus is the most stunningly beautiful Sci-fi movie since......... well, BladeRunner! Ridley Scott is the greatest visualist ever!! The way he uses sound & music compliments his amazing style of film-making. The planet scenes & yes Fleshvessel, that majorly cool shot of the ship. Also the Noobernaut (seed shaped Engineer ship) hovering, then slowly rising, was haunting & incredible. All of the questions & speculation it has left us with. The longing for the next installment. Ridley has directed 3 of the greatest movies ever. The fact that we are all here discussing them is proof positive of that! It's because I LOVE them that I am here!!

The subtlety- I always point to the Vickers Janek scene. We are lead to believe that the two didn't go for some "relief" when the scene ends. They absolutely did! In the next scene the Fifield and Millburn attempt to radio Prometheus but get no response becuase Janek is no longer on duty, he is with Vickers. When the crew wakes up the next morning Janek actually says the two never radio'd in. The subtlety. I love it. So what are the other subtle clues? A human Skull on the mountain? Is the Storm Triggered when they enter the Head Room? A face hugger on the Cave Glyphs?

Full franchise expansion but fans shattered this movie, then maybe FOX will include more things about Alien after analyzing this results. IMO they should continue to expand the mythology instead of returning to classic themes.

Yes,i like when there are questions. I dont want "all the answers" How much fun would it be if they explained every single little detail? The film makes us wondering and wanting MORE and MORE! In reality we dotn have all the answers, because as i said in another post, nothing is perfect so a movie cant be.That is whats makes it perfect imo. Yes when the ship takes off at the end is freaking breathtaking! I love the look and feel of the entire film,it is a masterpiece, and i rarely use that word in any context.

I love the opening shot of the movie to. The scene Were David opens the Starmap is fantastic. So much detail if you look closely. I always find new small things i love in Prometheus. Ridley is always way ahead of his time.

Hold on there, Spacejockey! Give it time. I post things here I think everyone will love and nobody looks at it! Very few, at least ( nod to Big Dave). I think this is a great thread, but also a daunting one because where do you begin? Flesh vessel- yes, those long shots of the Prometheus scouting LV223 are fantastic, I love them too. And true, rarely seen. Maybe never, at least not like that? The combination of visuals and audio are particularly subtle and effective here, and lent a sense of space and scale to the shots that was totally captivating. I love the long shot of the ship landed, in a swirling vortex of dust, with the domes marching off into the shadows. A work of art, that shot alone. Lone- the Noobernaut! You rock! That scene too, the frighteningly huge vehicle sliding about on an invisible cushion, and then inexplicably turning upright, nose breaking the clouds. Cold and mysterious, utterly original, another work of art, particularly when you consider the, shall we say, tumescent subtext. David- holy cow what a great character, and beautifully rendered by Fassbender. This was his movie, I think. He was chilling, and has the potential to become one of the great fantastic characters of film. In many ways he already is. I don't think the scientific team was remotely stupid, just Expendable. And very, very human. Messy, erratic, just like life itself. Much like the crew of the Nostromo, really, but here the story was bigger than them, so why waste time? Furthermore I think you needed a messy backdrop to contrast David against. Cool, collected behavior would have been great, but the actions of this bunch had an edge that kept me uneasy throughout. The continuous references and nods to seemingly the entire history of Sci Fi filmmaking and 2001 in particular made for an arresting aesthetic, it was so smooth and a major achievement unto itself. Here you have a director that wasn't really interested in Sci Fi, then produced two of the most talked about and revered movies in quick succession. Then....he doesn't go back. And when he finally does, thirty years later, he produces one of the most singular and bizarre pieces of art, and the only one I think in the category of Blockbuster. The music was spot on for the vibe they were going for, that sort of doomed heroic exploration, at once hopeful and sorrowful. And the strange pulsing synth in the first act, it sets up this weird, muscular tension, I honestly couldn't believe how cool it was in the theatre. I was already well set up to be majorly disappointed and then my jaw just dropped. What a vision! It definitely looks like we're heading into a period of great big budget science fiction filmmaking. I will always remember Prometheus as the first wave.

The strength of the movie is that it creates a sense of urgency and panic. The set designs and the appearance of most everything are fantastic. The characters are memorable, with good performances overall and some great acting by Michael Fassbender and all of the other main actors. A wicked combination of confusion and surprises, with an unsettling quality to the android, David, that keeps you wondering if he is trustworthy or not. The fact that Ridley Scott made another sci-fi film. The fact that the film makes you wonder "what's out there"? I'd give the movie 3 stars, maybe 3.5.

@Major Noob, Yes i totally agree with you. And about the crew being "only human" i mean how would most of us react in those kinds of situations? I dont think they were stupid at all. Ridley is one of a kind for sure. His visions on Sci-Fi is amazing. The whole style of the film is fantastic. And like you say David really steals the show in this one. How he is so "robotic" cold, missleading in many ways. You are never sure what he got up his sleeve. I also like how they got the story from books like "The 12th planet" and "The Lost Book Of Enki" by Zecharia Sitchin. I read most of his books. When i saw Prometheus for the first time i said to my self,FINALLY! Someone has made a film about the Anunnaki and Sumeria etc. So props for that. Think it is a big step in film to say the least.
