Milburn In this scene, he basically discovers an indigenous worm in some black liquid, This scene also makes it clear that the worms are indigenous creatures to that planet.proving the existence of life originating on another planet my opinion is that the worm-like creatures that he and Fifield later encounter is live on planet there are a lot of evidence(like are many worms where the ampule the black goo are get out of the ampule),they are being there by the enginer to experiment the black goo or the 2 worms are use to terraforming the establishment there ,we see when 1 worm float in black liquid. question what i have;why has deleted scene(maybe to us to belive that worms are from earth),why the worms living there (maybe are more creature there),what move on the top a ampule(move like its the worms and david smiley like he found life?are worms in ampule?)and many ...question what your opinion guys???

That is actually better worded Claudius! Good job! I think the worms are from the planet too. They probably got tracked into the ship from outside where they lived under rocks on the surface or maybe underground in caves - more likely.

Since the dome had air and water and little wiggling gobbets on at least one ampule my guess is that those worms were maybe residual bits of simple life that took shape from particles of goo, or maybe just something indigenous as Claudius said, that managed to flourish in the fertile dome conditions. I haven't watched the deleted scenes yet, amazingly. Did the worm seem hostile?

I really have to watch those scenes. It wasn't the same as the worms that come out of the ground when they walk through? If so here must have been all sorts of little wigglies!

You absolutely must see the deleted scenes and alternate takes. Ridley Scott it appears often shot a given senario two opposite ways, one with more conflict and one with less, so he could decide later in the editing room which version to go with. Its very instructive from a directorial standpoint to watch both versions so you can see why he made his decision. Its a window into his mind in relation to a given creative decision made by him. Particularly intriguing are the scenes between Weyland and Vickers or the love scene between Shaw and Holloway. Only when you watch both versions do you see why Ridely Scott's decision on how to play each scene was the right one. Rarely do we get such full access to the creative process of a brilliant director as this. I wouldn't miss it or the documentary on the making of Prometheus entitled 'The Furious Gods' for anything.
