top 10 alien franchise moments

I certainly have 10 but just for now Ill touch on your number 9, the landing. Among the scenes I loved in Prometheus were the long shots of the ship scouting the surface, when it's tiny yet crystal clear with its tiny shadow crawling along beneath and the great audio of its distant engines echoing off the mountains, and the final scene of it at rest in a swirling cloud of dust with the domes marching off into the distance. Wish I had seen it in 3D.

some great ones there pulserifle187 11. Marines recon mission in the Xeno nest goes pear-shaped, Gorman loses it. 12. "Get away from her you BITCH!" 13. Vasquez uses her foot to pin a xenos head against the side of an airduct, then shoots it in the head with a pistol. 14. Dillon starts wailing on the other inmates with a metal bar to protect Ripley. 15. Shaw politely putting David's head in a bag. 16. The various mutations of Ripley displayed in room '1-7' 17. Seeing a xeno looking into a suburban house window (AVP2-one of the only good bits) 18. Humanoid xeno queen smacks the xeno queen in the face. 19. Shaw's 'abortion'. 20. Ash attempting to take the facehugger off Kane - and it tightens its grip. (I rate Alien and Aliens above all the other 'Alien' films - much like the original Predator compared to all the other ones ... but i can't help liking all the rest in a way - except for AvP2 - that one was the biggest waste of franchise rights and the most offensive because of that)

yes ,i like this 10 ten moments,but for me the movie prometheus i like every moments of him!

@pulsefifle187: Since I'm coming more from a techy side, I take your original 10 and add: 11. The landing sequence of the [i]Nostromo[/i], [i](ALIEN)[/i] 12. The departure of the [i]Juggernaut[/i] including the opening of its underground hangar, [i](Prometheus)[/i] @ Major Noob: I like your choices, too. Not easy to limit it to 10, eh? @gigerfan: Definitely no. 12 and 20!

The opening scene of prometheus, you see the big shadow the enormous ufo casts on the ground when it arrives on earth. Then when it takes of again i raises itself on the side and slowly disappears trough the clouds in the background while the engineer is falling apart from the inside, bringing life to the planet. That is my favorite at the moment. I also love the cocoon scene in alien, and of course the space jockey scene.

This is an entertaining game so I will provide my own from scratch: 1. The first ever chest burster scene involving Kane. This is up there in the number one scenes of any film period. Never before has there been anything so disturbing and shocking to an audience. Its hard for us who have been desensitized by repetition and time to appreciate the shock value of this iconic scene. 2. The Space Jockey. 3. Shaw and the medpod. That was designed to be the shocking analogy to the first scene mentioned above. 4. "Get away from her you bitch!" - Ripley at one of her finest heroic hours. 5. The face hugger attacking Kane in the derelict space ship. 6. Ripley sings 'My lucky star' leading up to and including the moment when all hell breaks loose as it attacks her and she blows it out of the airlock. This is riveting fear at its most intense. 7. Hadley's hope, Newt spies her father with the facehugger attached to his face and screams in that signature blood curdling high pitched scream for which she was for evermore so well known. 8. The engineer gently pets David's head and then abruptly rips his head off his body. 9. The Prometheus slams into the engineer's ship making that huge and beautiful rumbling low frequency explosion. 10. Ripley signs off as last survivor of the Nostromo. Epic.

1- Space Jockey. Like nothing seen before, the dark opposite of Star Wars. 2- the Egg Chamber, and Kane's misfortune. The feeling of dread and wonder in perfect balance, with a violent squishy shock. 3- pretty much everything about the Facehugger, but particularly the first sight of it, as they crack the helmet off. The practical effects, the cinematography, the cold lighting and the acting: Brutal. 4- Bretts encounter with the Alien. When it's unbelievable mouth fills the screen, dripping saliva. Noooo!! The stuff of nightmares. 5- the whole Dropship sequence in A2. Huge and relentless.  6- I liked the Betty in A4. And the holding area for the Aliens. That's about it though. 7- the opening credits in Prometheus. Everything about it. Huge, cold and terrifying. Personally I'm glad they edited the Elders out. 8- as stated before, the terrain scouting before they touch down, the massive vehicle dwarfed by the landscape. 9- every scene with David.  10- MED POD. Brilliant, cringe inducing body horror. I have several more from Prometheus  but no more time! 

Ok i shall join this party of the minds with my top 10 moments 1. Kane's chestbursting 2. The scene where the SJ is first discovered 3. Shaw seeing Weyland and saying that they were so wrong for going there 4. Brett's death(and seeing jonsey was always great, i love cats) 5. In Aliens, the scene in the nest where the marines get completely f*cked up by all the soldier xenos 6. All the prisoners decide to fight and try to trap the xenomorph in Alien 3 7. The first time the crew of the Nostromo is eating when they get out of hypersleep 8. Shaw's medpod scene for sure 9. David "poisoning" Dr. Holloway's drink 10. The first shot of the queen in Aliens

PS this turns out to be an especially fun exercise and I would highly recommend it to true Alien / Prometheus fans. Give it some thought and let's see what you come up with....

I don't disagree with the choices so far but there are some others deserving honorable mention at least: 1. Ripley and Newt trapped in the med lab with facehuggers 2. "Game over man!" 3. Ripley challenges the queen in the hive 4. Carter Burke gets his just deserts. (1-4 Aliens) 5. David activates the orrery 6. The sandstorm turns the head on top of the dome to a skull 7. Vickers threatens to cut David off (5-7 Prometheus) 8. Ash "the perfect organism" speech 9. Ripley accesses muthur and learns the truth 10. Dallas in the vents hunting the alien (8-10 Alien)

Ok one more from A2: Gorman and Vasquez commit suicide in the tunnel. That one I found really moving. It's like in those old John Woo films where even the villain displays honor. Not that Gorman was a villain, just a bit of a milquetoast.

Ripley's Death in Alien 3 (assembly cut) is one of my top favourites in the Alien Franchise Including the epic scene of the alien's face hissing and drueling right up to Ripley's face.

in no particular order: -prometheus: intro sacrificial engineer scene (engineers doing a bit of genetic gardening on earth etc.) -prometheus: space jockey/pilot chair comes up out of the floor and the engineer hops in...becomes one w chair. legendary. -prometheus: david roaming about on the prometheus prior to the awakening of the rest of the crew etc. -Alien: wide interior shot of space jockey in chair...when dallas et al. first discover the pilot/chair room inside the derelict. -Alien: long shot of kane dropping down into egg chamber....countless eggs/spores visible. -Alien: shots of the alien as its stalking towards lambert. -Aliens: when marines first discover hive/"get their asses kicked" -Aliens: some of the scenes in operations when the surviving members of the group are attempting to organize and prevent aliens from getting into the facility. -Alien 3: scene where hicks and newt are cremated/dillon says a prayer/alien bursts to life. --Alien 3: the whole exchange that occurs when dillon says "i aint much for begging; no body ever gave me nothin...so i say f*ck that thing...." man...there are just so many great moments; hard to condense to 10. love the above scenes though.

extras.....Loved the vasquez scene when she puts her foot on the aliens head and just shoots the crap out of it. The drop ship crash scene was fantastic too, just a rolling fire ball. in the final bit of the explosion, the metal bar hitting the ground was a nice touch too. 'Hey vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man"-hudson "no, have you?"

This is so hard this is my top ten for now but might change because there are so many top moments. 1.The star ship Prometheus 2.The Space Jockey new and old 3.The Juggernaut corridor in Alien it looked so organic and so out of this world 4.M577 Armored Personnel carrier if I ever won the lottery this is what I would be driving in complete with xenomorph on the roof 5.The map room I watched this in 3D bluray and was blown away 6.The Power Loader as a kid and an adult I have always wanted to stomp through some ones house in it 7.The face huger as it runs then jumps then jumps again for Ripley in Aliens where she is locked in the med lab with Newt 8.The drop ship and all the weapons that pop out 9.The pulse Rifle one of the best guns ever 10.And of course the Xenomorph it is the perfect organism

1. Kane's chestbursting scene 2. Ripley vs Queen, Powerloader 3. "They cut the power" battle from Aliens 4. Ripley torching the hive in Aliens 5. Colonist chest burst from Aliens (much more violent and dirty than Kane's, being cocooned gave it a different element) 6. Prometheus landing- stunning visual effects 7. Shaw's Abortion- would've had more impact had i not known about it before release. 8. Space Jockey sighting in Alien 9. Rescuing Corporal Hicks in Aliens: Colonial Marines (don't knock me, it's official canon lol). 10. Vickers and Janek's late night convo in Prometheus, for some reason I really enjoyed this simple interaction.

im actually glad you put an A:CM scene in there. I wouldnt have but this really just made me realize it is excepted(by a few of us lol)

Thanks Cuponator. Without spoiling, i think there were maybe 3-4 scenes in that game that are extremely memorable. It was tough to narrow it down.

that sounds abhout what rigght. im right at the end so when i finish the campaign i will probably spend a while evalutating it and hand picking a few scenes i liked

for me a shocking scene is from the alien resurection when Dr. Gediman, the scientists involved in cloning Ripley and studying the Aliens he admire the creature what he create the human/Alien hybrid ,he know he will be kill and says its so beautiful come to father and the creature crush his head and die,to me than mean that even the engineer they admire the creature(perfect organism) and they will sacrifice for this creature,what do you thing???

I see, your saying the engineers got caught up with the xenos and then found themselves obsessed and/or in trouble. I like that! Good thinking Claudius

(Prometheus) 10) Discovery of the last Engineer in his cryo-chamber bed. (Prometheus) IMHO - When I found out Sir Ridley Scott was making a movie about 'the big guy in the chair', I think I almost wet my pants!

I also just thought about the scene where you first see that giant mutated xeno that you have to escape from without a weapon in Aliens: Colonial Marines thats a really cool part too

from the scenes not mentioned yet 1. the last side of Aliens: stronghold 2. the sound of the pulse rifle 3. "We're on an express elevator to hell; going down!" 4. Gedimans kissing scene in a4 5. the finisher of the power loader in a:cm and a lot more
