Giger has had a profound effect on artists since 1969 or so. One has to wonder what kind of strange childhood he endured .......

Haunte was a better choice than Page, that's for sure, but I liked the subtle, hard to define mouth parts of the final Hammerpede to the excessive concept paintings, if they are his. I like the way he kept calling the Trilobite 'Troglodyte'. Accident? I did like his six shouldered concept but it would have been changed at least slightly, no matter what. Even Giger's chestburster was rejected outright and redesigned, and with good reason, and however good Huante might be, he's no Giger. Thats how it goes in film. He should get over it rather than complain publicly about it. It does seem like the current elite of creature designers are too comic book influenced, or something. It must have been disheartening for Ridley to be stuck with the choices laid before him. All that said, the final products were very cool!

Thanks again Feebs for the link. You're right OldGuy, what is behind the 'night terrors' Giger had (still has?) to create such dank nightmare landscapes and forms? I love Huante's work Noob and (contrary to my initial misgivings) I think he was perfect to deconstruct the Alien form and they're right to dispense with the Biomechanics. Maybe an insidious hint or part explantion for that latter aspect we all know and love will prevail in future films/spin-offs. Huante was justifed in his displeasure at the 'albino Bishop' being discarded for the blue Deacon. Which I love by the way, but the white ghastly apparition was much more scary and sordid looking. I'd have thought Ridley Scott would've chosen more extreme imagery such as this to 'scare the s*** out of us". I hope they hire Huante for the sequel and they let in some phantasms along the lines of those discarded designs in the final decisions.

i like his designs too especially the white creature that would give me nightmares i also like his version of the Xenomorph looks more intelligent and seems like an evolution from the bug like predator that has stalked Ripley all these years. i think if there was to be an aliens 5 then this should be the basis of the new xenomorph something that has evolved to look like its pray, something that is harder to predict and would probally mess with it victims mind. afterall being chased through a space ship by a giant bug isnt scary any more. but trying to out wit something that is smarter then you is a completely different ball game.

I really liked Huante's designs and sympathise with his anger, "The creatures were all supposed to be albino. They were supposed to look simple, beautiful and ghostly like a Beluga whale in dark Arctic water." oh dear, that was either a stroke of genius or too much of a memory of Alien Resurrection. I would still like to have seen (only) the alabaster Engineers throughout and alabaster alien spawn in this film, but Ridley demanded the 'gigerised' Engineer, even though it wasn't necessary when you think of the already-established (in Spaihts script) Tetsuo Iron Man metal embedding in albino flesh like a living syringe for cryo deck and flight chair. You could have still had the lovely 'chair rising' reveal just with the Engineer already elephant-suited up. The whole Prometheus set SHOULD HAVE BEEN black architecture (with David's energy-source vision overlay) and albino creatures (like you get at the bottom of the sea). Forget Giger, it wasn't needed ... unless this was a derivative prequel-to-be. Which I don't think it needed to be. "Prometheus 'should have been' its own sci-fi franchise, in an Engineer Universe," I'll say it until I'm raw in the throat. Somebody wussed out somewhere, in my humble artist's opinion.

Nothing Carlos Huante did for this was used as a final design... There is a reason for this. They didn't like any of it. So get over yourself. Really!
