starwars 7?!

I think it's a good move for both sides. Disney gets a heck of a special effects department, and Lucas gets a retirement package. Episodes 1-3 had a glimmer of a good plot, but suffered under Lucas' direction. It might have been good with a different director/writer and just having him on as a creative consultant (which is his new role in these upcoming movies). Star Wars ran its course with him and this will give it a new life and direction for another generation (after all, they're not being made for people my age anymore).

As long as they keep those damn Ewoks, that flappy eared creature out of it. I hope they make 2 versions, PG rated for the kiddies and a R rated Star Wars 7 version, lots of blood and guts, lots of hard core action and alittle butt would be nice as well..... But w/Disney in control, kinda doubt it for the R rated version

This is truly amazing! Ok, the first trilogy movies were great when they were directed by people other than Lucas himself.... Directors that should not be signed: Michael Bay: "Hey, this cool 'd**Klike' laser sword is a Forcedamn kickass ride!!!" No, that just won't work.

thank god is all i can say.....the last movies tht came from him werent that great. I would go as far to say hes was losing the plot.....Indianna jones 4....come on what was that!!

well a Boba Fett spin off can be good to...besides, there is much material in the expanded universe as the origin of the Sith, the Mandalorian Wars, Kotor and The Force Unleashed games and the period of the New Republic (kyle katarn in Dark Forces and Jedi Outcast and Dark Empire comics ;))

I heard something about a Boba Fett movie being in the works. However, this merger has come as a surprise for sure.

Great news for Dreamists. I loved the Star Wars films, despite Jar-Jar.

Yer I know - could actually work but will take allot of very good work to do that. I was more impressed by some of the animations of starwars in terms of story and character development - if they manage to be as good or better it will actually work I guess but nothing will compare to the first 3... Could fox still distribute it? It might have that just not the lucas arts part possibly...

The last 3 stories were alreay written by Lucas but it is a matter of will Disney sticke with Georges story or take liberties with it and do what they please. I think George still has some say with the story but Disney is hoping to capitalise on the toys, games, TV, animated series and all the real money making from SW.

This in my opinion is promising news. The Disney people will take this franchise and give us the fans what we deserve. I want to see the Empires point of view in this whole matter. I would love to see the story told from the point of view of a Sith Lord. They have so many options that they can take. They can bring the old cast back, not to be the lead, but to guide the new Jedi knights like the Han and Leia children who were born with the force. I want the new sequels to have a serious tone to them. No ewoks, Jar jar binks, and other goofy alien creatures that bring nothing positive to the table. Like you said @Shambhala The Mandalorian wars would be a great spin off from the Star Wars universe. To actually see what and how the man we know as Boba Fett was formed. They could also do another Boba Fett spin off with the Bounty Hunter wars which featured an injured Boba Fett crawling out of the pit he fell into at the begining of The return of the jedi. Which was a lot of Bull Crap. George Lucas never had a liking for the Fett character because he said that the character was to violent. You also @freeze brought up a great point in mentioning Chewbacca. For those who have not read the books. Chewbacca dies in saving Han Solo's children. I still remember when Yoda was sent to the Wookies's home planet of Kashyyyk to oversee the battle between the Wookies and the droid army. There is a scene were Yoda is surrounded by Wookies as he is about to leave the planet. That scene was awesome. Just imagine if Disney would begin to open up the Star Wars universe more and show us how diverse it is. It should not be just about the force and the dark side. It should also be about crime lords like the Hutt clans that make there money off smugling and other devious deeds, while using the services of a young Han Solo and Boba Fett. So many, many rich possibilties.
