How would you guys reboot the AVP franchise to make it awesome?

I think they actually need to create a story. :D Not just an excuse for Aliens and Predators to fight. Pretty ridiculous, that AVP. The games; the latest one especially really takes the story somewhere. And is serious. Exponentially more serious than the movies. They actually explore the connection between the Xenomorphs, and the Predators. Going back in time, and exploring the history as well. I recommend that game to AVP fans, definately.

To be honest the only place they should and could go with that franchise is by making the recent game Alien vs Predator into a feature film. Not that its got a good story with not many plot holes, but it leaves the ending on a cliff hangar for a possible sequel. Would be much better than the real film, and obviously it would not be considered CANON with the alien saga, but it would serve as homage to it, so that is probably the best way to go! GOOD THREAD though!

The AVP game (2010) has a much more defined, and meaningful story. The movies.... are quite literally pointless. And the 2010 Predators movie did more for Predator, than those games, or Predator 2 ever did. Call me crazy, but i really feel that the Engineers should be featured in an AVP reboot. The story i had in mind always involved some sort of relationship between the Engineers and Predators. Being the spiritual, honourable folks they are. With a hunter mentality. The Engineers basically took advantage of this, and created the Xenomorph to be their ultimate prey. But of course, the Predators never find this out, and think they're a naturally-occuring enemy. And of course, it goes deeper than just that... The Engineers' reasoning is explored more. As well as their relationship with the Predators. Those are the basic basics, of what i had in mind. Anyone else care to share their AVP ideas? I feel... almost... too nerdy posting my thoughts. But i have to! BAHAHA! Because AVP is just a freakin' mess... BAH!

I think a good story for the predator would be that the xeno's got out of control so the engineers created the predators to hunt them and kill them, eventually turning to sport? Is that a good idea?

There were allot more details in this but to cut it short: I did have an idea way back after seeing aliens and hearing alien 3 was coming! I had this idea that it was marketed as an alien movie only and it was about infecting earth - though in a much better way than we have seen in some AVP films. It would be about alien vs us in the future with us having cool weapons and them well you know what they do - it starts small just one alien and we almost kill it then it manages to get one egg out just before we kill it they think its over and well to cut it short it ends up all out war - and the aliens own us. It gets to the point were it looks like we are dead and you see no hope for us then the twist - predators arrive. It turns out they hold 'human game' as a very highly prized object in the universe due to our intelligence - most other game is dumb but mean or nasty. And there are many other alien worlds. They also love war as well as hunting so they join in with a peace pact with us for as long as they infestation lasts. It then moves into more human and one of the predator type storylines - with some bits about the aliens on there home world (via a kind of brain device that allows the human to see what the predator went through in an initiation or something)- were they are much more evolved and different and some cool facts about aliens and were they came from like in a documentary style...anyway there was a few more bits but it kind of ends with them eliminating the aliens or possibly another ending. Could have one of the humans going off with one of the predators for a part 2 or something anyway I was young but that was kind of the idea anyway... Anyway I thought it was for sure going to at least be an earth war but when aliens 3 came along well you know what it was and the dissapointment started :( ...

@xeno_jockey That actually has a really good potential plot for the origins of the Predator species. I like how you said the engineers decided to create the Predators to control the xenos from getting out of control. That could work. And we could do a plot that the Predators began to reason their life's as they begin to rebel against the engineers by killing some of them. The Predators eventual betrayed the engineers as they found out that the engineers were paying more attention to the humans they created. The Predators got jealous and decided to kill the humans for sport as well. So we have hear a very possible plot that can actually work and explorer of the origins of the conflict between the Predators and xeno's an Engineers.

@Prenihility, agree and and I don't like much the VS story; the plot must be serious and IMO the Predators deserve a place in this universe but not as shown in AVP... *For starters I think there are more important things in the universe that hunts. *Also the second film must have been in the space...and at some point the Engineers must be shown but not as prey LOL. *The history of the companies Weyland/Yutani would be an essential part of a serious movie. *And with preds...does anyone know where they found the Aliens? Biological warfare or terraforming planets for life also sounds interesting. I believe that this is a universe full of life, where you can create interesting stories ... with a good script and director nothing is impossible.

build a nice fire. procure the 35 mm negatives to all films in the AVP franchise. drop said negatives into fire. watch the magic happen.

Alien breakout on the predator planet

to be honest... After 1 movie that nearly killed of the franchise, 1 average movie, 1 mish-mash of 2 different universes, one complete insult and now this whole farce, I'm afraid I can't stomach another AVP-movie. ALIEN V. nuff said imo.

I agree with Shambs>. The AVP series have really given the Predators a bad rap. And the Aliens, well, they have limped on. And with the Prometheus franchise rising to the occasion, I think they will be okay. As far as the Predators go, like all of you have said, they need a real story. Alien (1979) had multiple elements/themes involved within the plot. In essence, the actual monster only played a partial role in the movie. That is what the Predators need. I professional, thought-out script with a diverse range of characters (not just soldiers and Weyland board members). Something with some real meat to it. Where the audience can really lose themselves within, not just the film, but the universe as well. Thus, proving the grand-scale effects made by Alien and Prometheus. Plus, I'm tired of the Predators being referred to as the monsters that screwed over the Aliens. Both are powerful figures within the sci-fi genre and deserve respect. Cause as far as I'm concerned, the only thing that kept the xenos in business was the AVP franchise which in turn prompted Scott to begin production for Prometheus which has made it broad-scale again. Thats what the Predators need, check that, deserve. Love y'all and your view:)

It doesn't necessarily need to be an AVP. Think of it as a Prometheus for the Predators, if that makes sense

Well to be honest I'm sick and tired of having these AvP things on earth. They should change the scenerio totally. Other parts for is Ok but please no Lindelof.

what was wrong with the original idea? [i]Predator uses Humans as Bait for a Maturity/Hunting Ritual, fighting off thousands of these Xenos in an engineered Assault Course or Warrior Training scenario.[/i] Why the REBOOT needed? I'd be MORE INTERESTED in a Predator War situation ... imagine an army of those things taking on the Engineers. Oh...... (blushes)

If AVP revamp is going to work we need to have some sort of communication between the two alien races. We need to have a history between the two civilizations. There needs to be some common ground, something that both races desire and battle over. Thanks to Prometheus we now have an understanding about how a new species of alien evolved and how that evolution was linked to humans. With the Predators, we need to know more about their civilization and their link to human beings (if there is a link). Once this is all established then it is possible that an Alien vs Predator movie could be remotely interesting.....
