As Predator introduced that concept of a Skeleton.
In Alien, Aliens i always had the impression we was looking at a Organism with a Exo Skeleton like a Spider, Scorpion or Crab.
To me the Xeno was some kind of mutant Scorpion like creature as far as its actual skeletal and biological make up, just as a Human is to a Cat, Dog or Rat.

I agree with you. I always thought was the Alien was like a mutant insect. It had a hard exoskelton with acid goo internal organs?
